Inlay Walking Stick

SKILL LEVEL:  Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced

ADDITIONAL COST FOR SUPPLIES: $35 - $50 for a walking stick or cane blank, sanded and ready to carve, inlay materials, paid to the instructor

SUPPLIES INCLUDED: CA glue, Epoxy, Sanding paper and buffer. Finish and specialty tools  

SUPPLIES NEEDED:  Sharp knife & carving glove.  If you have some micro gouges, bring those! It helps to provide your own tools.  I have some on hand and I can share, particularly with beginners. 

Inlay is a dramatic and fun way to embellish any carving project. This class will teach the basics of using found objects such as motor wire, crushed stone, and shell as featured designs on walking sticks or canes. There will be some carving to prepare the patterns and then extensive use of adhesives such as CA glue and Epoxy. Sanding and buffing will finish the process and render truly unique elements to your stick.  Examples can be seen at www.gnjdesign.com.
